PLEASE REFER TO THIS GUIDE FOR ADVICE ON HOW TO PLAY
Diplomatic Actions
Push for government reforms in NPC nation (-50 credits, if succeeded more support globally towards ideology plus increased relations with nation, name what reforms are requested)
Negotiate End of Conflict [-0 credits. Consider the events of the conflict and propose to the GM (either in your turn PM or a post in the forums for diplomacy) a resolution to the conflict.]
Players may also send money to each other secretly or publicly as a means of funding. Mention in your turn whether you intend for your funding to be private, or public. If you do not specify, it will be public.
Economic Actions
Send Aid to NPC Nation/Rebels (-50, will improve stability and perhaps economy of nation while also improving relations with nation, -100 will improve relations more, -200 will dramatically improve relations, if given to rebels it will be secret and giving aid to a nation helps weaken rebels in said nation.)
Investments [-100 or in blocks of 50 or 100 (eg 200, 250, 300), will raise economy, used too much and you will lose popularity.]
Covert Actions
(Note that if you do a covert action but don't get news of the results, but your treasury was affected, then assume it failed but wasn't caught)
Set up rebel movement in nation (-75 credits, if succeeded rebel movement appears in nation, if failed nation becomes enemy)
Influence rebels towards ideology (-30 credits, if succeeded rebels adopt your ideology, if failed drop in relations with nation with rebels)
Frame foreign nation (-30 credits, pick nation, then framed nation, will frame nation, causing loss of relations with other nation, if caught both nations become enemies of yours)
Organize secret bombing campaign against nation or rebels (-100 credits from nation, nation becomes enemy and diplomatic relations with other nations decrease if caught, will hurt stability, economy, and possibly military of bombed nation)
Coup government (-150 credits, if succeeded gain a new, loyal government in nation, if failed make nation your enemy)
Assassinate leader of nation (-30 credits, international condemnation if found, if not then new leader rises with stability hit)
Fund political opposition in NPC nation (-20 credits, will help opposition win in selected nation when elections are held if successful)
Influence public opinion (-25 credits, use a variety of means, including statements, propaganda, the rumour mill, the media, etc., to influence the opinion of the public; of your nation or another nation.)
Military Actions
Deploy/withdraw/use troops (-10 credits for each deployed unit. The initial deployment cost automatically counts as an attack. Subsequent turns require further spending.)
Attack with troops (-10 credits for each unit that attacks, inside your nation or in another)
Buy another unit (-50 credits)
Bomb nation/rebel group (-25 credits, nation becomes enemy and diplomatic relations with other nations decrease, will hurt stability, economy, and possibly military of bombed nation)
Increase nuclear program (-100 credits for level 1, increases by 100 each level)
Decrease nuclear program (+50 credits for level)
The goal of the game is to roleplay the best and achieve your aims, whatever they may be. The game is played via private messages. The GM will send a credit report to each player for the turn and they select a list of actions they wish to do. This usually takes place every day or two days.
Nuclear Levels
1 - Functioning nuclear fission bomb (A-bomb).
2 - Functioning nuclear fusion bomb (H-bomb).
3 - Short range nuclear missiles.
4 - Medium range nuclear missiles.
5 - Long range nuclear missiles.
6 - Intercontinental nuclear missiles.
7 - A large arsenal of ICBMs.
8 - Submarine-launched nuclear missiles.
9 - Multiple independent re-entry vehicles.
10 - Space-based nuclear weapons. (Space level 9 also required.)
Space Levels
Pre-requisites: Nuclear Level 6 (ICBMs)
Level 1: Earth-orbit satellite (-50)
Level 2: Communications/Reconaissance satellite (-100)
Level 3: Animal in Earth-orbit (-150)
Level 4: Probe to Moon (-200)
Level 5: Human in Earth-orbit (-250)
Level 6: Probe to other planet (-300)
Level 7: Human in Moon-orbit (-350)
Level 8: Manned landing on Moon (-400)
Level 9: Manned spacestation (-450)
Level 10: Base on the Moon (-500)
For each level, a 6 sided die is rolled to determine how many turns each stage takes you to reach. There is also a random chance your attempt will end in disaster. In that case your costs to attempt against are cut by half. You can spend additional credits (in increments of 50% of the cost, so for level 1 you can spend 50, 75, 100, etc) to gain additional rolls to try and gain a lower number.
All missions must have a name. And if you're launching humans into orbit (or animals, for that matter), names would be awesome, even if they're made up.
Mutually Assured Destruction ends the game.
Foreign spending and such do not require action points, you can freely adjust them each turn. Deficits siphon credit income away the larger they get, and if left unattended can slowly grow over time. Nations are able to 'pay' for an action by putting it under deficit. Communist nations may not deficit spend without economic reforms. Large deficits should not be paid off immediately, as that can cause economic instability. Instead, it should be gradual (For example, 200 credits each turn towards reducing debt).

LATE 1960
MAP:
=Africa=
*Under the leadership of President Kwame Nkrumah the British colony of the Gold Coast gains its independence as the newly constituted Republic of Ghana.
*Former Italian colony, the Trust Territory of Somaliland, gains its independence, joining with the also newly independent Somali Republic.
*With the Congo Crisis deepening, local politician and president of the province of Katanga, Moise Tshombe, declares its independence from the rest of Congo-Leopoldville. In favour of close ties with the West, the anti-communist Tshombe asks the Belgian government for assistance, receiving aid and assistance in training a new army for Katanga. After complaints and requests for assistance by Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba, United Nations forces deploy to oversee Belgian withdrawal from Katanga.
*Shortly after, Albert Kalonji, a Luba chief and moderate leader in Lumumba’s MNC, declares the secession of South Kasai.
*After calls for aid from the Soviet Union, Patrice Lumumba and his government are fired by the President, Joseph Kasa-Vubu, before Lumumba himself is placed under house arrest. Shortly afterwards, Colonel Joseph Mobutu launches a military coup in Congo-Leopoldville, seizing power. Escaping his captivity, fleeing intending to set up his own government in Stanleyville, he is arrested by troops loyal to Mobutu and taken to Leopoldville. A clamour begins in the United Nations, calling for the proper treatment of Lumumba according to the law, while the USSR demands the UN seek his immediate release, the restoration of his government, and the disarming of Mobutu’s forces.
*In the absence of Lumumba, his deputy Antoine Gizenga announces that he has taken over as the Congolese Premier, with the intention of continuing Lumumba’s work.
*Dahomey, Niger, Upper Volta, the Ivory Coast, Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo-Brazzaville, and Gabon all obtain their independence from France.
*The Mali Federation falls apart in western Africa, as Senegal breaks away and declares its independence.
*Nigeria obtains its independence from Britain. With neighbouring Cameroun already independent from France, questions over what to do with British Cameroons leads to an agreement for a plebiscite to be held next year, in Early 1961.
*Riots in Algeria’s largest cities cast a bleak shadow over President de Gaulle’s visit to the much maligned colony.
*A brief coup attempt is made in Ethiopia while Emperor Haile Selassie is out of the country. The attempt to place the Crown Prince on the throne and institute a more moderate regime is crushed by loyalist military units in short order.
*France carries out its third nuclear test in Algeria, demonstrating their atomic bomb capabilities.
=Asia=
*Chin Peng, leader of the Malayan Communist Party, is expelled from the country to Thailand, along with the remains of his forces. With his relocation to Beijing, the state of emergency is lifted in Malaya, and although the insurgency continues on a small scale, the “Malayan Emergency” is deemed over.
*Ceylon elects the world’s first democratically chosen female head of government in the form of Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike. Pledging to continue her assassinated husband’s own policies from his time as prime minister, she among other things champions non-alignment.
*The first elections for the Parliament of the Central Tibetan Administration are held. The Parliament, based in Dharamsala in India, marks the first representative body amongst the Tibetan people - despite being based in India. The act stirs up further tensions between China and India, who resent the sheltering of the 14th Dalai Lama and many other Tibetans.
*The Chairman of the Japanese Socialist Party, Inejiro Asanuma, is assassinated during a recorded political broadcast.
*King Mahendra of Nepal deposes the democratic government in his country and takes direct control himself.
=Europe=
*Flying on an aerial reconnaissance mission over the Barents Sea, an American six-man B-47 Stratojet is shot down by a Soviet MiG-19 fighter out of Murmansk. Reports indicate that four of the crew are dead, with another two in Soviet captivity. The ultimate plight of the airmen remains to be seen.
*These events come close on the heels of the shooting down of a U2 spy plane over the Soviet Union earlier this year, a revelation which deeply embarrassed President Eisenhower and the United States. Having pled guilty to charges of espionage, pilot Francis Gary Powers is sentenced to three years imprisonment and seven years hard labour.
*Cyprus becomes independent from the UK, despite clamouring from some Turkish Cypriots to remain a colony in order to provide protection from the growing ethnic violence on the island.
*The Soviet Union continues to soar ahead in the Space Race, launching Sputnik 5. The satellite, containing the two dogs Belka and Strelka, as well as a host of mice, rats, and plants, safely returns to Earth the next day, with all animals recovered.
*It is revealed that two NSA cryptologists have defected to the Soviet Union. They give a press conference in the USSR, revealing the missions and activities of the NSA for the first time, including not only their activities against non-allied nations, but their disregard and distrust for allied nations as well - often intercepting and deciphering their encrypted messages.
=Middle East=
*The cracks begin to show in the United Arab States, with the Yemenis only loosely associated with the United Arab Republic, and Syrians straining under what they perceive as Egyptian dominance.
=North America=
*President Fidel Castro responds to an American embargo against Cuba by nationalising all American and foreign-owned property in Cuba, much to the outrage of business owners in the US with holdings in Cuba.
*At a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, chaos reigns for a brief moment. As head of the Filipino delegation Lorenzo Sumulong engages in a denouncement of the Soviet Union’s policies towards Eastern Europe, depriving them of their civil and political rights, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev sweeps him aside with a Point of Order, denouncing Sumulong as a “toady of American imperialism”. Despite this, the Assembly President permits Sumulong to continue speaking, prompting Premier Khrushchev to pound his shoe on a table in protest. Sumulong’s speech was also interrupted by the Romanian Foreign Vice-Minister, whose anger irritated the Assembly President to such a degree his microphone was shut off, eliciting shouts and jeers from Eastern Bloc delegations.
*In a close race, Democratic nominee Senator John F Kennedy beats out sitting Republican Vice President Richard M Nixon in the 1960 presidential election. Kennedy becomes the second youngest man to serve as President, and the youngest elected to the office.
*The Polaris missile is test launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida. Designed to complement the limited number of medium-ranged sites throughout Europe, Polaris missiles are designed to be launched from submarines, allowing ease of mobile nuclear strike capability. Secretary of State Herter announces that five nuclear submarines and eighty Polaris missiles will be contributed to the defence of NATO by the end of 1963, causing grave concern amongst the Eastern Bloc nations.
=South America=
*The countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua announce the formation of the Central American Common Market.
