Super Bowl 54
The Baltimore Ravens have won their third Lombardi Trophy over the Seattle Seahawks with a 24-20 victory. League MVP Lamar Jackson took home the Super Bowl MVP award as well with 305 total yards and three total touchdowns. Russell Wilson once again threw a game losing interception in the Super Bowl, at least this time not at the 1 yard line.
The Off-season
New England Patriot and future hall of famer, Tom Brady announced his retirement from the league. It’s a surprising move for most, even perhaps Brady himself as he’s famously said he wanted to play until 45, but after his four interception performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round most thought this was coming.
Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger would follow suit by also announcing his retirement from the league as well, citing his elbow injury as one of the main factors.
The Carolina Panthers send Cam Newton to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for 2020 first round pick and a 2022 first round pick.
Phillip Rivers quickly demands a trade and the Chargers appease him by shipping him off Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a second round pick.
Eli Manning remains with the New York Giants, even when they announce Daniel Jones is going to be the starter for the entire season.
With Ryan Tannehill’s play in the second half of the season, the Tennessee Titans send Marcus Mariota to the Chicago Bears for a second round pick.
The New England Patriots trade a third round pick for Mason Rudolph, as the Pittsburgh Steelers are going with Delvin Hodges under center.
The Draft
Joe Burrow isn’t a surprise for the first overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Carolina Panthers make what some call a reach for Tua Tagovailoa with the eleventh overall pick.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Justin Herbert, confusing some as they now have Jameis Winston, Phillip Rivers and Herbert on the depth chart.
The Oakland Raiders select Jordan Love with the eighteenth pick.
The New England Patriots select Jacob Easton, making competition with Rudolph.
The Miami Dolphins select Jake Fromm in the second round.
The Chicago Bears select Jalen Hurts in the second round.
Nate Stanley ends up with the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round.
