An all-purpose thread for anything and everything Star Wars! Who else is excited for the new movie? I've got tickets to go see it in IMAX on Saturday and I can't wait!

My girlfriend and I have tickets to the first showing in town (Gothenburg, Sweden). Tomorrow morning, 10 AM. Early, but worth it.

Me and a bunch of friends are planning to see it this Thursday. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but I'm still looking forward to it!

As posted in another thread, I'm planning to see it Friday night in IMAX with others. (They are paying- though I helped with a Fandango $5 gift code.)
In other Star Wars news, I'm hoping to get a DVD copy of Episode III, so I can get my brother-in-law to burn me a copy with the subtitles and dubbed audio (If I can find the guy who did it and can get it from him) of "The Backstroke of the West".

Lol, nice! I'm downloading a torrent of Harmy's "Despecialized Edition" right now in preparation for the movie. I don't think I've ever seen the original unaltered trilogies, so I'm really looking forward to it.

I have seen the older movies, and think we still have the VHS of ANH. If you can find a VCR, that may be a good idea to try.

It is. I greatly enjoyed it. If you can see it in 3D or IMAX, try to- it is worth at least some of the price. Expect some applause. There will be surprises. There will be unanswered questions. There will be cool scenery.

Okay in all honesty Star War Episode VII is just A New Hope with a dull paint coat. Like I enjoyed it, but I've seen this movie three times already.
Now this movie is good as I've established before. But, it needed to do something new and different, but instead it tried to be to similar. It didn't try to form its own identity. Po and Finn were the best things to come out of this film, they are without a doubt the best characters in this film.
The worst thing about this movie? Rey. She's really really really boring. She's just Luke and Anaking Skywalker, but in girl form with half the personality. She's so dull, and now that she's our main character I have fears about that now.
Like in terms of ranking this movie it's this for me personally:
A New Hope = Empire Strikes Back
Revenge of the Sith (Yes, fight me about this)
Return of the Jedi = The Force Awakens
Attack of the Clones
The Phantom Menace.

Just saw it. Good movie, but I have two complaints about it: The first is that, like the guy above me said, it's just Episode IV with a couple of adjustments. The second is that the main bad guy (whom I call Darth Pussyus) I can only describe as Snape's son who was trying to be emo but was failing spectacularly. Despite that, I still have to argue it's in my top 7 favorite Star Wars movies

Having seen the movie a few days ago, I really really enjoyed it, it was basically Episode IV Redux but it told its story very well, it gave us a nice passing of the torch for new characters and new baddies even if i'm a bit unsure about Darth Temper Tantrum.
Whilst not AMAZING, it was darn good and really a love letter to Episode IV V and VI. The weakest thing I have to say was the score which didn't stand out at all.

John Williams is in his 80s. Probably hard for him now.
I get the distinct impression that Snoke is really Darth Plagueis since he looks like a Muun and looks heavily scarred by lightsaber and force lightning. However, officially, he's supposed to be some alien military genius Imperial admiral, ala Thrawn, returned form exile in the Unknown Regions, and I guess Emo Kylo Ren is supposed to be Jacen Solo with Ben Skywalker's name, fulfilling the role of Joruus C'baoth while trying to be Vader.
Overall, I enjoyed it though, and it had no Jar Jar and I think most people really wanted the way they did the original trilogy back.
