So far, so good, news wise. Almost everyone that has seen it thinks that it is quite good. The thing I've seen the most is: "OMG, it *feels* like the originals." Which is a good thing (assuming it's more than just callbacks....).
It also supposedly passes the bechdel test, which is super, super, super encouraging. Women Main Characters for the win.
I suspect its heavily non-white and/or non-male main characters will upset some people. Which is good too.
Saw it yesterday. I won't give any spoilers, but it was thoroughly mediocre. Pacing was awful, villain wasn't scary, lightsaber fights were boring, and the 3D was absolutely terrible - see it in 2D if you can.
I'm rather of the opposite mind that Krall (maybe in part do to seeing it as part of a twenty-four hour marathon?)
Maybe a 'few' pacing issues, but I'm not sure on that. I will probably need to rewatch it anyhow (just because of the sheer factor of the awesomeness of it). Did have technical issues in my theater so some of the trailers weren't able to be seen.
In terms of the few trailers that were shown (amidst the technical issues), the new Jungle Book looks very very good.
And I did hear two comments from a friend. One was how BB-8 is cute. The other was an alleged celebrity voice cameo. Should I report who it is? Also, I thought I saw a celebrity in a minor, but key role. I know he is in the movie, but it may not be him.
Edit: No, the pilot is NOT Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith DID play some form of voice role, but it was not him.

I'm resurrecting this thread just because I heard some people here *cough cough lightninglynx cough* can post an entire rant on this movie.
It's been too long for me to give a truly accurate review of the movie, but I felt that the parts of A New Hope that they copied they did better than the original, and the part they ripped off of The Empire Strikes back was okay (not better than, but still good)

Rhand: I try to put lots of effort into all my Africa maps, on this one you can see Hausa-Fulani, Mandinka, Ovimbundu, and Xhosa republics.

Rhand: Unfortunately, South America is harder, because nothing ever happens there.

MinnesotaNationalist: well, that was the most underwhelming jury duty ever. Came in one day, was told to go home, and now I'm told that I'm not needed anymore for this session.

ieph: I've been actually thinking of just spending my time here, gradually decreasing my presence in AH.com. But in the meantime, I'm spending my time reviving one of my old WIPs sadly lost to the sands of time (I guess)

ieph: In fact, I'm even thinking of reviving my wikibox TL right here.

jennysnooper87: If that's the case, would it be okay if I moved the TL from AH.com to this site?
