Well Ron Paul backed Jill Stein, guess he hates Gary Johnson more.

Ain't going to lie, Sunday's debate will probably decide the election. Trump needs a great performance just to make it a contest. Prior to that first debate, he was starting to pull ahead but she managed to take the momentum away from him with her performance. Right now, I think the agreement is that she is in the ballpark of about +4 nationally, which I think Trump can overcome with a good comeback at the debate. There's also some rumblings about coming October surprises, so there's that too.

Trump hasn't been ahead since before the Democratic convention, though before the debate it was getting close. Trump is about 6 points behind (538 nowcast) and he is currently getting hammered for past stupid comments. Meanwhile wikileaks made a release of documents meant to embarrass Clinton that will amount to nothing and Trump's latest controversy has pushed that off the news anyways. Last time Clinton has a lead this week it took Trump 6 weeks to get back to almost even. Bottom line is he needs a game changer just to make it a contest again - this debate can't win it for him (though neither does it lose it for him - but he is running out of time).

Prior to the debate, he was leading in all of the Romney states, plus Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Iowa, and ME-02. He had almost tied it up in Michigan and in Wisconsin, and was starting to pull ahead in Colorado (Which would've meant he had cracked 270 by reaching 273). In national polls, he was running about even or so. It was only after the most recent debate he took the dive he's in right now. As far as Wikileaks go, they've got more they have yet to release and I'm more focused on the rumblings coming from the FBI about agent revolts over Comey's handling of the emails.

I'm going by 538, if you are using a different source for polls maybe that explains it. In any case it doesn't change the fact that Trump needs something really good to happen just to make it close again - such an event would not "decide the election".

Right before the debate, even 538 in there polls plus forecast had him winning for a day. Most of the polls I cite where are the ones used by 538. As far as winning the debate, if he wins decisively or she has another health fit (Be it coughing or what have you) during the debate, even if just locks things in a deadlock again that means he's got a chance to win. If she collapses on stage, it's game over.

Sure, I never said Trump had no chance. But he needs something good to happen, and fast.
And now Paul Ryan is ditching him, LOL.

More news! Apparently Fox News considered going after Clinton to be more important than covering the hurricane. They were picking up on something Pence said that had the media was doing Clinton's work for her. (Of course, Fox still considers Judith Miller to be credible.) I was almost inclined to believe them after seeing the NBC Nightly News, who spent about half the time on the hurricane, and the other half trying to get Trump (for old comments on women- which, to be fair were frankly disturbing and should disqualify him), go after Russia (for allegedly hacking things and supporting the War on Terror in Syria), or mention the Nobel Peace Prize winner. I have forgotten to mention that a surprising number of media outlets are endorsing Gary Johnson, including the Chicago Tribune. The abandonment of the two-party monopoly can only be a good thing. (Sadly, nobody is backing Jill Stein.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newspaper_endorsements_in_the_United_States_presidential_election,_2016 Wikileaks has begun leaking the emails of John Podesta- including some of her Goldman Sachs speeches! (Some of her comments I can understand, like her saying the Saudis export extreme ideology, and some I disagree with like a hemispheric common market with free movement (The latter is nice, but the trade barriers would be a race to the bottom.) Of course, the Clinton campaign won't confirm any of this. t.co/pjX9tmfINttheintercept.com/2016/10/07/excerpts-of-hillary-clintons-paid-speeches-to-goldman-sachs-finally-leaked/Other emails were leaked by a different leak group, these by DC Leaks. One of them has Harvey Weinstein (Not to be confused with Harvey Fierstein) trying to get Hillary's campaign to go after Sanders on giving gun manufacturers immunity from lawsuits to counter BLM going after Hillary. theintercept.com/2016/10/07/harvey-weinstein-urged-clinton-campaign-to-silence-sanderss-black-lives-matter-message/?comments=1#comments

There have been different candidates nominated by some parties in different states- notably 1948 Alabama, where Thurmond and Wright ran on the Democratic line and Truman and Barkley were shut out. More politics! I didn't give that much attention to Trump's remarks, but they were definitely trending, and could be considered NSFW if uncensored. (Even more so than Bush's remarks on Adam Clymer or Cheney's remarks to a reporter.) www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2016/oct/08/context-donald-trumps-lewd-remarks-2005/The guy who leaked it? He's Billy Bush, cousin of George W. and Jeb. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_BushClinton's speeches have some pretty damaging remarks for her, though nothing obscene or sexist. She specifically says you have to have a private position and a public position on policy. (So is being a hypocrite a good thing? To her...) Some things she said are good remarks, if politically incorrect, like her remarking that "Saudis have exported more extreme ideology than any other place on earth", though it does make me wonder why she is siding with them. Some are impractical, like saying the US wants to "ring China with missile defense", which would involve being allied with (or controlling) India and Russia and Pakistan...for starters. She also said that she and her husband were "far removed" from the middle class. A different leaked speech has Clinton claiming to be "center-left to center-right". theintercept.com/2016/09/30/hillary-clinton-center-right/Speaking of India, Trump is a big fan of the Narendra Modi and other BJP politicians. While I would trust India over Pakistan, the BJP is rather bigoted, targeting both Muslims and Christians for discrimination- or worse. One of his business partners is a BJP politician in Mumbai. theintercept.com/2016/10/04/donald-trump-bjp/CBS News edited out a remark from Bill Clinton in which he said Hilary frequently got severely dehydrated when working. thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/295705-cbs-news-edits-transcript-video-clip-of-bill-clintonCBS said it was for time constraints. thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/295772-cbs-news-on-bill-clinton-edit-controversy-change-madeOne of RFK's speechwriters is backing Trump. www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/09/rfk-trump-2016-democratic-party-speechwriter-214270Here's how the NYT found Trump's old tax return, and how they found it genuine. www.nytimes.com/2016/10/03/insider/the-time-i-found-donald-trumps-tax-records-in-my-mailbox.html?_r=0Matt Drudge is claiming that the government is exaggerating the potential for damage from Hurricane Matthew. (Rather ironic, in that it would mean the Obama administration is handing a big platform for free publicity to Rick Scott, Nikki Haley and Pat McCrory.) www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/10/07/the-political-complexity-of-hurricane-matthew-drudge/In wild news that you may have missed, Obama nominated the first Muslim federal judge. He also nominated someone who was thought to be the first Muslim federal judge a few years back...only that one is a Methodist. www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article100957032.htmlWhile we in CAP are in the War on Drugs, both on the demand side (with anti-drug presentations) and supply side (we do recon flights to look for drugs, and I can't tell you much about them since I don't know much of details), the USAF has begun getting involved, both with surveillance- and sending a B-1 bomber to fly low over a drug boat. www.airforcetimes.com/articles/the-air-forces-quiet-war-on-the-latin-american-drug-cartelsA government bureaucrat is rarely popular, but one sign language interpreter for the SC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation is getting rather popular. www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article106691537.html#0

A lot of the base either loves Trump or hates Clinton, so not much of the base is deserting him. Trump had a "debate prep" session today, which he asked the media to cover. Turns out he brought four guests- Paula Jones (who he insulted a long time ago), Kathy Shelton (the woman whose rapist Hillary defended- and who was backing her until she saw an affidavit where Clinton alleged her charges were false), Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. Someone brought up the fact that two people have accused Trump of rape (Ivana Trump and a 13-year old girl), while several others accused him of sexual harassment. Clinton says Trump is the only unfit Republican nominee to be unfit for presidency. A lot of Democrats and others would disagree (See Bush II, Bush I, Reagan (the one she and her allies praised at the convention), Nixon, and Harding.) Trump is saying he will make a Special prosecutor to go after Clinton. Some people are going the usual "politicizing differences" route- which is a shame. (Especially for the Intercept.) Trump hit Clinton on her weakest point- Libya. Some leaked emails detail Clinton and her staff placing stories with favorable journalists. theintercept.com/2016/10/09/exclusive-new-email-leak-reveals-clinton-campaigns-cozy-press-relationship/A lot of Republicans are trying to reach out to women after Trump's remarks by abandoning him. theintercept.com/2016/10/09/were-not-with-him-gop-discovers-womens-rights-slams-donald-trump/A lot of police unions are backing Trump. theintercept.com/2016/10/09/police-unions-reject-charges-of-bias-find-a-hero-in-donald-trump/Update: Trump is differing with Pence over Syria. Rumor is that Pence may want to be dropped from the ticket. (VP Michael Flynn, anyone?)

The leaks just keep on coming! From the emails, Hillary's campaign was upset at DWS- for hiring someone and not letting them know. wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/3225Chelsea is described by one source as a "spoiled brat". wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/2874Conflicts over Bill and Chelsea Clinton were an extreme stress for one foundation official- so much so that someone had to intervene to prevent her from harming herself. wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/3332#efmAdAAmBRemember the conspiracy theory that had Putin being behind opposition to fracking? Clinton believes it! She's a huge fan of fracking, at least in private. www.ibtimes.com/political-capital/hillary-clinton-expresses-support-fracking-wikileaks-document-2428659Last and best? Clinton wanted Trump to win! Why? He was a "pied piper" candidate, who would drive the GOP further "right" (Ignoring Trump's positions to the left of HRC or other Republicans.) wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/1120 (In attachment) At least one staffer was rather upset about this, as he said that her lying about Sanders would damage her and lessen support for her in the fall, and that "Hillary is almost totally dependent on Republicans nominating Trump...even a clown like Ted Cruz would be even money to beat..." wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/3990#efmAE8AKdARdAV3(It's worth noting that Rand Paul was taken very seriously. Had he stayed in, and especially had he held his dad's foreign policy standards, the race might be very different.) In other news, foreign media are backing Clinton, from the Independent in the UK to the Kyiv Post in Ukraine. A lot of people are upset over Trump's calls to enforce the law on Clinton. I think just going after Clinton is not enough. (And, to be fair, we should go after Trump too, for fraud, at least.)

Well, North Dakota prosecutors are targeting award-winning journalist Amy Goodman for "participating in a riot"- AKA committing journalism. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-37676332Newly released speeches document Clinton's wanting to intervene covertly in Syria. www.bbc.com/news/technology-37680411A Republican office in Hillsborough, NC, was firebombed not long ago. A nearby graffiti called on "Nazi Republicans" to "leave town". Trump, of course, condemned it- but so did Hillary Clinton and NC Democrats. (In fact, it was NC Democrats who helped organize a fundraiser to help replace the office.) www.wral.com/trump-clinton-weigh-in-after-triangle-gop-office-firebombed/16122453/It should be noted that NC does have Nazi-related groups that have operated in it. Some took part in the Greensboro Massacre. Nazis were allegedly involved in the murder of three men at a gay bookstore in Shelby in 1987. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greensboro_massacrewww.rawstory.com/2014/04/frazier-glenn-millers-ties-to-a-1987-triple-murder-did-the-feds-protect-a-killer/Trump is accusing the media of rigging the election- and polling places being rigged as well. www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37673797Guliani's joining him. Here's an article, with some revealing bits. www.politico.com/story/2016/10/donald-trump-rigged-elections-republicans-229846Some I noticed -Ari Fleischer must be desperate to stop Trump- he's bringing up Gore positively! Republicans haven't done that since perhaps he was VP! -The sheriff of Milwaukee County is agreeing with Trump over this. -One of the people dismissing claims of armed rebellion is Henry McMaster, who helped ensure the SC Republican primary was rigged for George W. Bush in 2000. Here's a nice article on WaPo's bias against Bernie Sanders. harpers.org/archive/2016/11/swat-team-2/?single=1Here's a nice article on what the Clinton Foundation has done in Colombia. fusion.net/story/357169/hillary-clinton-foundation-victims-colombia/amp/And, for the freakiest Trump flyer, I give you this, with reasons to support him (Trump siding with India over terrorist-backing Pakistan) or oppose him (Trump praising the Hindu fundamentalist BJP)...and the top image just takes the cake. pbs.twimg.com/media/Cu2ARTuWYAARc0I.jpg
