So, while we await the uncaring gods and gibbering tentacles that we undoubtedly will have to face, would anyone care to discuss Character Concepts? I've discussed it with Krall and he says it's alright if it keeps interest in the game, and I think everyone here's still interested. Plus it might allow for some nice shared history.
At the moment, I'm most likely going to play as Miriam Asch, the daughter of a career government family, who would grow up as an optimist and who loved the classical myths in which great heroes and brave knights who were needed to fight and win against the evil monsters which tried to take advantage of good people and hurt them. Her Families work, her Shul, and the return of some of her family from the Soviet Union as she grew up would only hone this belief within herself, wanting to be someone who could help stop the great evil of her time, and it's ruthless destruction of anyone who did not do what the State wanted. Excitable, outgoing, and caring, those traits also translated in her into brash dogmatism, knowing something needed to be done regardless of if she knew how to solve it or if something had to be done in the first place.
She would grow up, enter college, and become an intern in the CIA. Quickly she would lose her contentment in the job she saw as simply moving papers, trying her best to try and do everything right so that she could get a position actually helping people. She didn't need to be James Bond, but she at least wanted to be able to help people like her third-cousins to freedom, or stop an attack in another European City which was blamed on "general radicals". Of course, her minor position and interest in pleasing made her very useful for her superiors.
A Prime Candidate for Midnight Blue, a quick test to see if they could issue some simple commands. With promises of getting a spot in the Agent Training program, they brought her into a secluded room with a few simple bottles of water. It proceeded like most trial sessions did, the chemical agents working through her bloodstream causing hallucinations, a sense that time had stopped, animate objects, loss of personal identity. That was all normal, as was saying they felt connected to "somewhere else" or God. Whisper-chanting in a foreign language as projections of light covered her was something altogether new, and it scared them. As she stood up, the light seemed to form into "Wings" as the Chanting somehow continued in their heads with her mouth closed and then covered by those "wings". After getting out of "emergency care" she would take a variety of small part-time jobs, before being pushed to join the team by an old CIA contact.

Well, if we're discussing character concepts, I'm thinking of playing Mortimer Martin, the mortal avatar of Death.
Basically, Death realized Humans were sentient only recently, and not being able to meaningfully interact with them (due to being an omniscient entity that exists everywhere), he creates a mortal avatar to learn about them.
Mortimer is raised by a normal family, and is a very curious and excitable child, with an unnerving ability to point out death when it happens, and explain how it happens. As he ages, he becomes charming and intelligent, and he turns his death sense to a job, becoming a crime scene analyst specializing in murders.
However, his incredible skill with solving murders (and his inability to solve any other types of crimes, even if they would be very similar without the death part) led to him being noticed by one of the more secretive and supernaturally inclined branches of the CIA. Now he works for them with much the same job as before, except now with an eye towards the deaths of agents and ambassadors.

Sounds very interesting Yellowpath, I think it fits in quite well with the lore and would be a fun person to interact with!

Sounds very interesting Yellowpath, I think it fits in quite well with the lore and would be a fun person to interact with! Thanks. I was trying to make him personable, despite being the mortal incarnation of Death itself. I keep seeing people do Death as sort of morbid people, so I wanted to break the trend. He's not morbid, despite his occupation. He's actually quite cheery.

Is the fact that Mortimer is the personification of Death Itself known (either to Mortimer, or to those around him)?

The CIA think he's some weird medium or strange magic user whose attuned to death.

What is Midnight Blue? I looked it up, and I couldn't find anything but a few songs and a TV show. It's obviously some Secret agency, but I have no clue what it is.

I assumed it was a fictional CIA operation made up by Rocketeer for the purposes of his character's backstory. Btw, I haven't forgotten about this RP - I just haven't gotten around to organising the sign-up thread for it yet. I'll try to get it done soon, though.

Essentially what Krall said, a clandestine CIA operation I made up as a part of alternate-MY ULTRA that I planned on explaining more if it came up in-game.
