www.fox5ny.com/news/75102151-storyAlthough I support this, I doubt this lawsuit will result in much. Secular plaintiffs have sued over this many times, but the courts refuse to acknowledge the inherently religious nature of the motto. I guess I'll keep using my sharpie in the meantime.

Yeah, I'm basically on the same page. Also, it still annoys me "In God We Trust" is still in the pledge of allegiance. I mean, whenever we have to sing it and I come to those four words in my own little version of protest I just don't say it. And I'm not much of a fan of singing patriotic songs in schools. Just isn't my type of thing.

I am religious myself, but both based on the historic roots of my belief system (Baptist- and many Baptists have abandoned that root in the past few decades), and my own personal beliefs, I am in favor of this lawsuit. Our early coins had the motto "Mind Your Business" on them. TR, when some coins accidentally omitted "In God We Trust", wrote a letter saying the motto could be considered blasphemous. Of course, I'd personally rather have them reform which institutions get federal and state funding myself. (There's plenty of religious right groups that are still getting funds for sex ed under Obama.) BTW, today is Religious Freedom Day in the USA.

Honestly, I doubt the lawsuit will come to anything. But just out of curiosity, what are some ideas to replace the phrase? I'm thinking something like "With Liberty and Justice for All," or just "Liberty and Justice for all."

For the pledge we just return to the original which didn't have "under God".

Just add For all the Gods, so problem solve, all the religions gods are now mentioned. And what about those of us who dont believe in a god or believe that god is evil Are you just gonna leave us out in the cold and only support the theist religions? I propose the motto be changed to "abortions for some, timy american flags for all!"
