Laurence could only wait for further information to come forth as he continued to look through the folder.

Laurence had picked up a folder of his own and began to look through the contents within. He was curious to see what had happened, he'd dealt with his own brand of craziness but this seemed up his alley. He put the folder down before speaking, "Well besides probably being one of the grossest things I've ever seen. I'll take the job, plus it's 'local' so I won't be far away if you guys need to hunt me down." Laurence told the bald man. "Now then, what exactly is that black sphere near Miguel and do you have it with you, because if you do I want to see it." Laurence said smiling kindly. "That black sphere is why this is more than a standard investigation. It was found on the floor a few feet from Navarro's remains - we've been unable to determine its make, material, or origin, but the investigators who examined the scene stated that they felt uneasy, like something was watching them. ESP-sensitive operatives confirmed that the black gemstone was the source of this feeling, and upon its examination by an expert it proved to have a weak astral aura - something normally only a living person would have. Given the indication that it is observing its surroundings, our best guess is that it's collecting data and psychically transmitting it elsewhere. We have no idea what or who it might be transmitting to." He idly picked up the photograph of the object and looked it over, "As for seeing it, I don't have it with me - if it's being used to gather and transmit data then having it at this confidential meeting would be a serious breach of security. It is, however, being held in a secure vault of this facility, and we have permission to access it, as well as any other items and materials recovered from the scene of the incident as well as the scene itself. If you wish to examine it now then I suggest Mister Bauer accompany us," He turned to the German agent, "I believe your abilities may prove useful in identifying the object's origin." The Nobxing shrugs, "Looks like an easy job. You know people who want him dead? Or is that the problem, too many want him dead?" He grabs the reports of his fellow AUI coworkers and quickly looks through their information. "As far as we're aware Miguel Navarro had rivals within NASA and the scientific community, but we've been unable to establish a clear motive. Certainly we have no idea who would have the ability and equipment to kill Navarro, surgically eviscerate his body, and preserve it through unknown means. Preliminary interviews with people who knew Navarro have been recorded and are available should you wish to review them, and I'm sure we can pull information on everyone who worked with Navarro at NASA and set up full interviews with them if you think that would be helpful." Marja stares at the photograph for a long while, some kind of wet, revolting horror spreading across her face as the gears in her mind turn. When she finally opens her mouth, though, it is not an expression of disgust or terror but one of outrage and shock that this person—clearly with some kind of connection to the magical realm—did not appear to have received the proper post-mortem rituals. "Thinking you must have completing the karsikko ritual and consigned the spirit with kallohonka to Tuonela, or else there could be the problem! This is bringing trouble upon your people, without cleansing the spirit and ensuring his safe passage to Tuonela, he could return and threaten to destroy. Already, it's magic to look like there's no decomposing. If you want to live, suggest you let me perform the last rites. It's most safe this way." The tall man hesitated, adjusting his glasses momentarily before holding his hands behind his back. "I'm afraid I only have a passing knowledge of Uralic magical systems, Miss Venäläinen. If I understood you correctly, you believe his spirit has not properly passed on to the afterlife?"

The tall man hesitated, adjusting his glasses momentarily before holding his hands behind his back. "I'm afraid I only have a passing knowledge of Uralic magical systems, Miss Venäläinen. If I understood you correctly, you believe his spirit has not properly passed on to the afterlife?" "Yes, it's this," she says, piercing eyes training on Moustache Guy to reinforce the graveness of the potential risk. "Many problems, I guess. First, it's likely, whatever also prevents the decomposing, that's also preventing the spirit to pass on. If we are lucky, what does this, it's not very smart, it doesn't trap his spirit to this realm, and we can reduce the risk by performing the last rites. But my experience with such curses, they are trickier than this. Curse isn't broken just with to consign the spirit to Tuonela because something prevents it. If it's turned evil the haltija, the protective spirit, into something that traps the spirit, this can cause danger. Leaving his self here to potentially cause the haunt, with malignant spirit which can be dangerous, this requires to be fixed. Can probably learn what it is, but I'm not the professional in to break curses. So, this needs more help." Marja slips back into thought as she considers her options. "Still, if the spirit is still there, it's useful potentially. You know this, I think, my ability to manipulate etiäinen. Can become, how is it called itself, doppelgänger. Can reflect his spirit, even appearance to some people. Maybe it's possible to use this, gain information that might be available only to places he could be, if it's that nobody knows he's dead. What do you think?"

Alright then." Laurence said standing up out his chair, stretching his limbs and smiling. "I'd like to accompany you and Mister Bauer, plus I don't know if this would help, but my little Kasi is a very 'magical' being. I'm not sure if she'd be able to help, but maybe she would. Plus I'm sure she's worrying if I'm all right." Laurence said smiling.

"Hold on a moment Mister Fowler," the tall man placed both his hands on the table and leaned forward, staring at the Finnish woman before him, "Are you saying you could communicated with Navarro's spirit? Even after all this time?"

"Very well. The rest of you," he said as he walked towards the door, "Stay here and familiarize yourselves with the case notes. If you need anything please ask the guards outside the door - and if they refuse, tell them you're authorized by Agent Frakes." He opened the door and stood to one side, "Mister Bauer? Mister Fowler?"

Even after all this time?" "To talk to the guy?" Marja expels a breath of air, brows furrowing in thought. "It is possible," she says, standing up as Agent Frakes (she'll still call him Moustache Guy) begins to gather the group to go investigate. "Time in the spirit realm, it's not passing the same way like it does out here. At least, maybe he's still got some of the haltija. Possibly more, it's his actual spirit. Either way, valuable to investigate."

He held the door open and gestured for everyone to move through it, "We'll head down to investigate the object, then we can move on to Mister Navarro's remains - for those that can stomach the sight." "Well you know me, I'd be happy to come along and assit you." Laurence said with a bright smile. "Who knows, we may even pass by Kasi on the way and we can talk to her about this." "I highly doubt that, Mister Fowler," said the agent raising an eyebrow above the rim of his sunglasses, "She's in Virginia." Edit: ((I'm not actually going to wait for everyone on the team to respond here - this is more your chance to say "no" if you want to, for some reason. I'll move the RP along and assume anyone who didn't post is coming along tomorrow. ))

"You wouldn't happen to have anyone in this investigation that you need interrogating, do you? That is one of my specialties after all." "If we had, Mister Favager," he said closing the door behind him, "It would've been in the case notes. Though I'm sure we'll have need of your particular skills before this investigation is over." Two figures, dressed in olive green military fatigues and featureless gasmasks, stood immobile either side of the door. The agent ignored them, treating them as he would furniture, and looked up and down the wide grey hallway - dimly lit, it faded to black in both directions with no indication of a turn or door. "We'll take the elevator," declared the agent, "Follow me."

The elevator was huge; it was large enough to fit a tank with ease, considering the dirty tracks on the floor, most likely by design. The agent stood neatly inside the sliding mesh door, waiting for everyone to board before starting the car on its long journey downwards.
"Don't get too excited, I doubt what you'll find anything pretty."

The lift shuddered to a halt after its long descent, and the mesh doors pulled back to reveal another of the facility's expansive grey corridors. The agent's footsteps echoed as he walked forward, past esoteric symbols painted in white and green on the walls, and into the darkness beyond. After some time the group could see light in the tunnel before them - a checkpoint, with security booth built into the wall and a heavy metal barrier blocking their path. A soldier in the now familiar uniform of hazmat suit and gas mask exited the booth and approached Agent Frakes, raising his hand in front of him. The agent placed his own hand palm to palm with the soldier's, and after a silent second the soldier snapped a salute and the metal barrier receded noisily into the floor, pulled down by unseen machinery. Beyond that, it was only a short walk to the circular room lined with huge, red metal doors.
"Technically it's illegal for me to tell you what this place is usually used for," said the agent as he lead the way towards one of the doors, "But suffice it to say that nothing - no radio transmitter, no astral projection, no conventional or nuclear weapon, no known spirit or magic can penetrate these walls." Two soldiers stood either side of a small, man-sized door near the base of the main door. One snapped a sharp salute and opened the door, grunting as they pulled, revealing it to be a metre-thick slab of painted metal. "We've repurposed this part of the facility to hold everything relevant to the Navarro incident." The agent had to bow low to get through. On the other side was a long hangar with a curved ceiling, a series of heavy metal shelves and cabinets occupied the centre of the room, barely taking up a quarter of the available space. As the group approached they could see a handful of guards in white uniforms standing guard around the shelves. One wearing an armband striped pitch black and blood red stepped forwards and pulled down his gas mask to speak.
"Sir," he said, giving a casual salute to the agent. "Chief," said the agent, nodding in acknowledgement. He jerked his head to the side, gesturing towards the group behind him, "This is the AIU team - we need access to the incident materials." "Of course, sir. They're all yours." The soldier stepped aside, letting the assembled team approach the collection of shelves, cabinets, drawers, and boxes that contained everything they had on Navarro's mysterious death. The agent marched forwards and pulled a heavy black box off on of the low shelves and slid it into the middle of the aisle. It was a metre high and wide with silver padlocks dangling off the sides, and complex diagrams of overlapping shapes and runes scrawled on each face.
"This is where we're keeping the black gem," he explained, "This box has numerous layers of warding to prevent it perceiving anything whilst in there. We need to make sure we take it out for a short a time as possible - we don't want whatever may be looking through it knowing too much - so I need to know you're all ready before I unlock this thing. Are you?"
((Sorry for taking a while with this update - it needed to be a bit longer and more detailed, but I've been kinda busy and haven't been feeling up to writing it over the past few days.))
