Yesterday I went to a local Scottish festival and saw highland dancing, bagpipes, fiddles, etc.
I bought a tie in my clan tartan.

I lived a long time next to United States Army Garrison Benelux-Schinnen, Netherlands, before 9/11 it was easy to get in as a visitor and do American things like bowling and shopping.

I thought some of those things were only open to servicepeople (bowling and shopping). As for going to Highland Games, I've done that a few times, though I don't have a tartan. (I did try some food, like Scotch Eggs, a deep-fried Mars Bar, and some Haggis pastries- though I'm not sure if it's authentic Haggis, or the kind the US has to settle for.) I haven't been in several years due to schedule conflicts with CAP.

I haven't been in several years due to schedule conflicts with CAP. It is only open for service people (bowling and shopping) but as many of our neighbors where working there it was easy and before 9/11 because it was a small town was tolerated, after 9/11 it became impossible for outsiders to get in with out a valid reason.

Just got back from helping my grandparents clean part of their attic (a job I'll be helping them with every Tuesday for the next month) and jot a big old pile of loot from them, the crowning jewel of which is a box of like 40-50 year old history books. I already read one of them all the way through. I should be posting an image of said things on my Deviantart account here soon (in a journal entry) (see: Spiritswriter123.deviantart.com )
I also went to a small town that I expect none of you to know of unless you're Saint Croix River enthusiasts: Marine on Saint Croix, home of the first commercial saw mill in Minnesota. Also will be posting pictures on Deviantart here soon

Today I received an odd proliferation of advertisements for dating sites with women from other countries.
It's as if the internet knows that I'm a lonely wreck.

I am at the happiest I have been in months.
Tonight there was a big band that came to campus that partnered with the Ballroom Dance, Swing Dance, and Salsa groups and rented out one of the rooms in one of the campus centers. They taught us how to dance swing, salsa, and foxtrot.
I love this kind of music; despite initial hesitation, I saw it as an excuse to put on my fanciest suit and my clan tartan tie and do something tonight.
So it was awkward at first but I got in the swing of things. It was all partner dancing; I was actually able to offer girls a dance and they'd actually accept and not recoil (for someone as lonely as I have been for the past few months it is a big morale boost).
I recognized some of the tunes that the band was playing, Sing Sing Sing, In the Mood, and Kansas City. During In the Mood, I would leap high into the air whenever the brass punctuated the saxophone line, all the while singing the Brian Setzer lyrics to the tune.
And the most bizarre, cocky, out of character thing I did?
During Kansas City, I was also singing along with my terrible singing voice. I was dancing with another girl that had came and I did the following (with the lyrics being blared in my uncultured voice)
"They've got some crazy little women there and I'm gonna" (look her right in the eyes) "GET ME ONE!"
And the best part? She graduated last year and was coming back as an alumna. And I'm just a lowly little freshman.
I have the stupidest, giddiest smile on my face right now, and I just couldn't be happier.
But then I'm sad because one of these isn't going to happen for a long time.
But then I'm happy again because they're considering making this a regular thing as an alternative to drunkenness (I'm a sworn teetotaler), crappy pop music, and boring parties.
I found this out after thanking everyone I could and pleading the bandleader and the event organizers to let me know when the next one of these was happening.
I didn't know I needed this in my life, but I do. It fills a gap that has left me depressed, lonely and anxious.
This is just amazing.

He could be using something like Firefox or Opera, which allows you to set 'multiple' frontpages, or a better term could be bookmarks you want to see first. This is probably it; I open up my browser to six tabs. my standerd tabs i have always open are my forum, the Proboard Forum Dashboard, AH.com, and whatever tab i have open.

On another note, I am now acutely aware of how much of a nerd I am. While some girls in the public area are talking about partying, sex, and idiot friends buying samurai swords in Charleston, I am raging at myself for not remembering three county seats of North Carolina just by memory.
