Anybody? I really need some feedback on this before the deadline on Sunday.

Sorry for the late post, I've been exhausted over the past few days and was busy all of Sunday. Unfortunately this means I haven't managed to get my entry in on time, and it doesn't look like Iserlohn has either. Given how few entries this contest has been getting, and how stressed out trying to keep it active makes me, I think some reforms are in order. I'm putting the contest on hiatus for the time being, until such reforms are decided on. Speaking of which, some people have suggested that we extend the entry period for these contests to a month - what do you all think of that? And are there any other suggestions for reform of the contest? I had an idea to turn it into something like a regular map prompt, with no contest necessarily attached - just something to give map-makers inspiration - but I'm open to ideas and I'd like to hear what you all have to say.

I'd find something that's more of a map prompt perhaps more agreeable. Maybe just a thread with prompts and you put out a new prompt every month or so? If people want to still vote I'm down with that, too. Also, if Castles Made of Sand is picked I'll definitely do it for this round.

It's been quite a while since I put this contest on hiatus, and I think it's past time that I got around to reforming it.
Currently I'm thinking of doing a map prompt posted every fortnight/month. These would generally be vaguer and more varied in scope than MotF challenges, since they're not outlines for a formal contest, just ideas to help inspire you. One thing I'm not sure about is whether to just make up all the prompts myself, or to take submissions via PM instead/as well. What are your thoughts on this?

It'd probably be good idea to have people give suggestions to you as well (since I'm sure we're likely going to do that regardless)

I agree with MinnesotaNationalist. I'd love to have a map prompt every month to do stuff with as well as be able to suggest map prompts as well. A good balance between the two, I think. Get more people invested in the contest, too.

May I suggest getting Map of the Fortnight or a successor up-and-running on the site again (if you, Krall, or really anyone has time). I noticed that there was a large dip in activity once MotF stopped on this site. I know that MotF here suffered from lack of activity on the site, but I also think that shutting MotF down didn't help with activity either, and I like to think that if getting MotF or a successor back up would cause more activity on the site again.

Getting the MotF or something similar going again would be good for forum activity, but I don't think I have the time and energy at the moment to run it again. I do have a couple of ideas for some replacement (mainly the previously mentioned map prompts and monthly "telephone" map game) that would take less time and energy and be less reliant on members being active in it, but no plans to implement them any time soon, I'm afraid. If anyone else wants to try taking over the MotF I'm happy to help them out, though.

You know what, you know what... I'll run one MotF, see how it goes. You got that everyone! We're having a new Map of the Fortnight on Althistoria! Minnesota Nationalist's Map of the Fortnight! Now, we need ideas for a topic, as the old wikia page for topic ideas has been taken down, so I need you to come up with some of your own! In fact, let me come up with a google doc for it: docs.google.com/document/d/18N8NSLSAWFogBc0y7RxU4YDco8NQKv-Q_90AcAVx2Xw/edit?usp=sharingI would like to start this Sunday, as so that Upvote's MotF and mine won't go up on the same week, but if necessary, I'll delay it until June 3rd.

Ah okay. The link at the beginning of this thread and the AH thread just links straight to the AH wiki home. Unfortunately, the only response so far I've gotten is Zalezky being pessimistic. Bah, I don't need any of the pessimism that Canada is so well known for, if I get even as little as 2 people to join, then the games are on.

Ah okay. The link at the beginning of this thread and the AH thread just links straight to the AH wiki home. Probably because AH.com has switched to new software and the URLs for the wiki have changed. Should I update those links, or do you want to start a new thread for your MotF?

Maybe just use this thread in meantime. If I were to make a new thread, I'd just copy over most of the rules on the first page anyways and add a "New" somewhere in the title.

Here are some challenges I'd like to see for your MotF, MN.

Hmm, I quite like the sound of those first two. Especially the first one, but mostly cause I can refit some current ideas to fit it

I second the golden age idea, I think it'd be interesting to see which civilizations get picked.

I'm interested in participating, but with only two weeks I'm not sure I would be able to finish a decent looking map in that time frame. The ones I've made for mt Balance of Power timeline have taken me forever! :-)
