How does this impact human history? Does the cheetah evolve into a "big cat" equivalent to the OTL domestic cat?

The ancient Egyptians did apparently tame cheetahs as pets and for hunting, so domestication should be possible. I'm not sure it'd have any clear effect on their history though.

They would be prestige pets, mainly because they're so difficult to breed. Sight hounds are far easier to breed and achieve pretty much the exact same result.
There would hopefully be more cheetah's in the world, but I don't see much of a bigger difference.
Maybe the domestication of the Serval/crossing it with domestic cats to create a Savannah Cat equivalent would have slightly better results. They'd be useful for hunting birds, bats, and monkeys in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and India with more tree cover.

I'm not sure you can entirely domesticate a cheetah. People have used them for hunting, but they were still very dangerous, just like your cat would be if it weighed 50 lbs.
