 The Union of Pacific New England is a semi-autonomous island territory of the Great Union of the South; found within the South Pacific United Territory located in the South East Pacific ocean off the coast of eastern Australia and north-east of New Caledonia. Pacific New England is in the Melanesia subregion and bioregion of Oceania it is a series of continental landmasses part of Zealandia that separated from Australia roughly 66 million years ago gradually drifting to its current location until about 53 million years ago. British explorer Captain James Cook was the first European to sight the archipelago he claimed the archipelago for Britain and named it Pacific New England. In the 1880s, Spain and the United Kingdom claimed parts of the archipelago, and in 1906 they agreed on a framework for jointly managing the archipelago as the British–Spanish Central Pacific Islands through a British–Spanish Condominium. Spain was eventually pushed out by the British in a short war supported by the local populists and re-established as the Pacific New England Territory. An independence movement arose in the 2020s, and The Union of Pacific New England was founded in 2023 and in the following year became a member of the Free Nations Commonwealth along with the newly formed Scottish People’s Republic. It was dissolved into the South Pacific United Territory In 2030 becoming a semiautonomous region of the GUS under the jurisdiction of the Australian State which was the agreement come to in the Pacific Pact in order to gain protection against the State of The British People and the rest of the European Confederation (Fascist successor of the European Union) in the Third world war. When the United Kingdom had fallen to the fascist state the British monarchy fled to the islands where they resided till the current day and plans are underway to re-establish the monarchy in the British Isles though this is highly unlikely to be successful. The archipelago consists of six main islands along with several smaller ones. The main island of Ares is significantly larger than the rest just slightly under two times the size of the main island in Hawaii. The mainland is divided in length by a central mountain range whose highest peaks are Mont Edinburgh (1,789 metres) in the East and Mont Cook (1,578 metres) in the Northwest. The islands are covered by lush and unique rainforests as well as large savannahs and plains suitable for farming and a significant amount of marshes and wetlands are along the coastline. Due to the island chains close location to Australia and Papua New Guinea which have many unique flora and fauna themselves, the island chain exhibits many stunning species found nowhere else like the Pacific New England Cassowary which is the largest in the world and displays some pretty unusual behaviour (it is a lot more carnivorous than other species) as well as many remarkable crows species which seemed to have diversified to become a dominant lifeform of the archipelago fill a wide variety of niches, in addition to this there is many reptile, bird, marsupial and insect species which are unique to the islands. There is also many flora that are only found in Pacific New England much of which are living fossils from the Mesozoic that have managed to stand the test of time. There are a great many number of predatory plants as well as several out of the ordinary tree species such as the Pacific Redwood Mimic which create a truly primaeval atmosphere. Nested on the small mainly privately owned Cassowary Island is one of the greatest biological reserve to ever be created. Tierra del pasado renace is by far one of the most beautiful and unique biological reserves to ever be created it truly takes advantage of the beautiful scenery to capture the imagination of its visitors to feel like they are in a garden of Eden, untouched by the ravages of time where creatures from all different periods coexist in a running ecosystem with all the pleasures of home close by. Tierra del pasado renace covers the majority of the island except for the eastern tip where the villages of New Britain and Victoria reside. The whole island is connected by a tram system that goes around the entirety of the island connecting the reserve and the villages. The reserve has many five-star hotels and resorts as well as several luxury holiday homes it also has a busy port and a small luxury neighbourhood for frequent guests and employees located on the three saints islands which serve as parkland where none of that “dangerous” animals can venture into. The reserve has its own airstrip and zoo in the visitors centre for those who would like to see the animals in a non-safari setting with the added advantage of seeing some animals that are non-free roaming like the fearsome Tyrannosaurs Rex as well as a look at some early creations of the BlueLine Corporation. The BlueLine Corporation has been criticised for affecting native populations of animals on the island a deal was struck with the archipelago’s government for BlueLine to host some breeding programs for some native fauna and flora, the reserve has actually be in good for some native fauna as it provides shelter and easy food though there is a risk of being eaten or attacked by some of the introduced fauna. Due in part to government regulations BlueLine has done its best to keep ecological effects to a minimum where viable. Hello, everyone! Just wanted to fairly quickly get a map out before the end of this month since, unfortunately, most of my big projects have been taking quite some time to make any headway on, so here you go. I hope you enjoy. Also, just to be clear, the artist of this piece in no way supports, endorses, or is in favor of the Nazi Party, National Socialism, or Fascism. The artist abhors all views expressed by said groups and is opposed to them in every way. The piece was made for entertainment purposes only, do not reuse as pro-fascist propaganda. ~~~ A more successful Nazi invasion of France in 1940 traps British troops at Dunkirk and, with a more effective bombing of Britain thereafter results in the United Kingdom accepting a peace deal to drop out of the war, though they assure their people it is temporary. Without having to watch their back, the Nazis invade Russia with full force and, with a lot of miraculous luck, manage to defeat the USSR to the west of the Urals. Moscow, Leningrad, and even eventually Stalingrad fall and, since then, Europe has been firmly under the Nazi thumb. Afterwards, the Nazis went about setting up their rule in Europe. France was returned to Home Rule (though under a fascist government), their allies divied up territory (Hungary and Romania would have multiple border clashes before reaching their current border), and Russia was split into 4 sub-nations of the Greater German Reich: Ostland, Ukraine, Muscovy, and Caucasus. Russian Slavs are either driven out of European Russia into Siberia, made slaves, or sent to concentration camps along with Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians to make way for the millions of German colonists who settle the former USSR in the years following the end of hostilities in Europe in 1944. Europe settles down to peace, though it is an uneasy one as Germany rules it with an iron grip, and only a select few nations are still free. In the Far East, the United States eventually gets into the war against the Japanese and, though having to fight much of the war on its own, defeats the Japanese in 1946, freeing China from the Japanese grip with the full might of the American industry and military. Japan is fully cowed after a nuclear weapon destroys the Kure Naval Base in Hiroshima, vaporizing the last remnants of the Japanese fleet and forcing a total surrender. Without Soviet interference, China is placed under Republican rule as American forces bring much of Asia into the Allied Nations, including the remnants of the USSR beyond the Urals, thereafter named the Russian Republic. Though victorious, the United States is heavily reluctant to finish the conflict by attacking Nazi-held Europe, as Britain is not, at the time, fully ready to try again after its disastrous defeats, East Asia still needed to be rebuilt, and the Nazis are, at the time, at the peak of their power. Instead, for the next two decades, the United States would focus its efforts into rebuilding East and Southeast Asia, making China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Russian Republic into powerful allies, and helping secure India as, while not an ally, a neutral power instead of a Nazi bulwark in Asia as Hitler had hoped. Gradually, the Allied Nations began to encircle the Nazis from all sides throughout the 1950s as much of the Middle East and North Africa was brought into the Allied sphere. However, Nazi Germany remained too powerful even still to attack. As the 60s began, it seemed as if it would take decades before Nazi rule began to slip enough to risk an attack against the Nazis. Too many Americans still remembered how devastating the fighting in China, Indochina, and the Pacific Islands had been against the Japanese, and knew that the Nazis would be even tougher. However, things changed in early 1965. Though cracks had been forming for years in the Nazi power structure, Hitler had held them together. That is, at least, until he died in early February, 1965. After lingering for years, the death of the Fuhrer finally split the Nazi Empire into 3 main groups. There is the government in Cologne, a more traditionalist government based on industrial power and populism that believes the way ahead for the Nazis is coalescing their power over all Europe to form a "European Reich" to compete with the Americans. In the south is the government in Munich, later relocated to Vienna, who are the "progressive" Nazis who believe that advanced technology, including moving into space, and an expansion of the idea of the German Reich is the way to go for Germany as it stands, bringing fascism to as much of the world as possible and driving the Americans back to their continent. Finally, the Berlin Government believes that Nazi control must be made by force, to keep Europeans, lesser humans, and enemies all in line. They fully believe in the might of the "Aryans" and that they will be able to march unopposed across the world if only a good man can lead them. Units are mixed up between the 3 governments, with much of the SS going to Berlin, the Heer to Cologne, and the Luftwaffe to Munich. The Kriegsmarine, a weak branch due to funding being funneled to other branches for the past two decades, has thus far been neutral. The civil war that finally breaks out in March will not be an easy one, but is just the opportunity that the Americans have been looking for, praying for, for so many years. It is, at last, a crack in the German armor and a chance to finally take back Europe from the awful Nazi menace and cast them out of this world for good. Only time will tell of how this war, the beginning of the end, will turn out.  |

It is, at last, a crack in the German armor and a chance to finally take back Europe from the awful Nazi menace and cast them out of this world for good. Only time will tell of how this war, the beginning of the end, will turn out. As mentioned in the text, the Kriegsmarine has been increasingly gutted as funds were taken to keep up the SS, Heer, and Luftwaffe, particularly as the most combat in the past 2 decades has been low-level guerilla activity in Russia, which the Kriegsmarine is useless for. So far they're relatively neutral, but with their biggest bases in the territory of the Berlin government (Memel, Kiel, Danzig, Stettin, etc.) it's likely they'll side with the Berlin government before long, but may be not as willing as other branches to outright attack their fellow Germans. |

OK. Here is the VERY rough draft. The PoD is simple. In February 2014, Ukraine was in crisis. Protesters had filled several cities, not just Kiev. In Western Ukraine, some local authorities seized power and refused to answer to Kiev, notably in Lvov/Lviv (though also in other cities). www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/21/ukraine-western-pro-european-cities-lvivAt one point, the local government of Lvov/Lviv declared independence from Ukraine. www.ibtimes.co.uk/ukraine-facing-civil-war-lviv-declares-independence-yanukovich-rule-1437092In an attempt to make peace, several opposition leaders decided to negotiate with the government. President Yanukovich agreed to moving up elections for President and made a deal with many opposition leaders. When Vitaly Klitschko went to announce it to the Maidan, a man lept onstage and shouted him down, in OTL. A few hours later, the ceasefire was broken, when a police APC was attacked by molotov cocktails. Yanukovich fled, the opposition took power without elections, and you know the rest. But what if Klitschko decided he had enough of Svoboda, Right Sector and company? (Earlier, in January, when he pleaded for calm when it appeared clashes were breaking out, Svoboda and others sprayed him with fire extinguishers.) www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26468720Klitschko was a boxer. All it would take would be a punch. ITTL he did...and the world changed. The Maidan degenerated into fighting among the different opposition groups. By the time police restored order, many of the nonviolent opposition members had fled or were dead. The armed ones continued fighting sporadically...and the Ukrainian Civil War had begun. This map shows the seven regions of Ukraine that declared independence from Kiev (They were chosen based on containing the cities mentioned in that Guardian article, plus any regions cut off from Kiev by them). Presumably they would be led by leaders from that region...very likely Svoboda. It's likely Ukraine would remain in the hands of Yanukovich, and thus Crimea would still have its autonomous status and be part of Ukraine. However, there would still be Svoboda and Right Sector supporters throughout Ukraine carrying on guerilla actions. (I'm unsure how much outside support they would get. Foreign national support would still exist, but MUCH less than the support for Ukraine OTL (I wouldn't see the EU backing Lvov, but I could see the US and Harper's Canada-though Mulcair and May and maybe Trudeau might make it an issue). There would be support groups overseas, as OTL, and fighters going to "volunteer"- perhaps ironically including the NazBols. Also there might be rebellion among the Crimean Tatars. Perhaps we might see a repeat of OTL where Islamist fighters are joining in the fight.) Attachments:
