Adlai Stevenson was reportedly very indecisive about running, so WI Truman had changed his mind and decided to run again? Although he was not popular, he was still the incumbent; could he have won, and what would his 2nd term look like if he had?

If he won, it would look like more of the same. If he lost (VERY likely, as he was deservedly unpopular), we could see President Dewey or Taft, as Ike didn't run against Truman the last time. (If the former, expect the Mafia to get cracked down on. If the Latter, expect NATO to become more European. Both would be positives, IMHO.)

Was Ike not wanting to run against Truman the reason he sat 1948 out? Presuming it is so and Ike still decides not to run even in the face of the good climate for such a candidacy, the GOP nomination will for sure go to Robert Taft. OTL he won the most votes and carried an equal number of States to Ike during the primaries, and Dewey had the burden of having lost twice hanging over him. Taft will likely pick up William Knowland of California as his VP, due to the fact he is a Westerner and that he is an interventionist (Somewhat).
