I've just pondered, which sci-fi/fantasy universes may be able to stand a chance against, or even defeat, Warhammer 40,000. There's no real limits, just don't offer any works which are clearly 40K fan service Also if anyone wants to do specifics like, idk, Imperial Guard vs Stormtroopers? Something to that effect, that's fine with me. To get the ball rolling I'd say that elements of the Lovecraft universe might be able to handle the Imperium. Creatures like Deep Ones, Elder Things etc are just Xeno scum so they're not going to last long, though the Elders and the Mi-Go could probably put up a half decent fight. The Yi Ti with their knowledge of Time manipulation could stand a chance too. But really I say it'd be big C and his cousins, the Old Ones and various Outer Gods which would steal the show. They're pretty much Chaos Gods except there's considerably more of them, and their power is not limited outside of Warp either. Cthulhu himself needs to wait on all that hokey space-time nonsense to get right before he can fully wake up, but Yog-Sothoth or one of the others should be more than capable of nomming the Emperor on his own. Any other ideas?

I can't think of anything that could. With all the firepower that WH40K has, all acting in unison? I doubt that anything could go against it.

I don't know the 40k that well but what about the Culture universe? A hell of a lot of power there.
