What if while enroute to the Mediterranean Sea to raid Italy or Spain, a viking fleet is blown southward in a storm and ends up on the Canary Islands?
- How do the Vikings treat the islands? - Can a viking kingdom/settlement be formed? - What if the Vikings discover and trade with the gold rich Ghana Empire?

Is that possible, a storm that blows them more than 1,700 kilometers to the Canary Islands.

It might be possible that if the ship was damaged and the currents were right it could be partially disabled by the storm and blown into a position where the current, combined with possibly some rowing by the crew by chance takes them to the islands but it does seem quite a way to be taken off course. Mind you if it was carried that far it could be a hell of a task for it to get back to anywhere the Vikings know and hence have the wider Viking world know about the Canary Is.
Alternatively possibly the Vikings were on a force raiding the Moroccan coastline and being driven by events further south and west and finding the islands, possibly then exploring them for water and food so they can get home.

The islanders were pretty primitive. It was the easy mode tutorial for Spanish imperialism later. Probably the Vikings slaughter a lot of them, take any good stuff, but since they're basically stone age then, not much riches, built a raiding base/fort for the Mediterranean, hang around mingling with the natives, advance the survivors through assimilation, then after the Viking raids peter out with better organization in Europe and then becoming Christianized and aimed at people the Pope is angry at, it becomes a warmer version of one of those off Britain islands where they speak a variant Norse language and people are descended from Vikings that used the island.
