Well, my bank just sent me a note saying I had overdrawn my account (I have not used my card since last month), and I have a bill due soon for storage. Oh and my fitness tracker just popped off and went who-knows-where, since I can't find hide nor hair of it. Sounds like a real shitty series of events. Do you think the bank thing is fraud? Well, I have good news on the bank bit- The money that went out? It was going to my Christmas Club account. (That's a thing where you withdraw tiny bits through the year and around November, you get the money back. I am still low on money, but I had enough to pay for storage! Plus, I found out that I am in the pool to be on Jeopardy! I also may have a possible internship! Now, one bit of bad news- I'm not getting a tuition refund. (I'm still not paying for any tuition, so that is good.)

Do you have to apply to be a contestant?

Getting on the show is tough, I didn't get close when I tried. Buzzer technique is probably 90% of the difference between the people who make it on the show (all of them are very good).

First, you take a test online. If you score well enough, you get to go to try out. Tryouts are at ten places around the USA. There, you get tested, interviewed, and play a mock game. Once you get into the pool, you have eighteen months where they can contact you when they need you for a game- then you head out to LA. I've made it into the pool once before, but never got on the show.

So since I've last been here for a while I was published in an academic journal, portrayed Chiang Kai-shek's foreign minister at a Model United Nations conference, and started counseling.
You?

Jeez, you've done a lot of note in a time period where I haven't even been able to finish trimming the hedge! Hopefully I'll get that, and a fair number of other things, done in these last two months of the year.

Well, there are quite a few forest fires in the area to the north of me- I can smell the smoke, though I may not be able to see it. And a county over is where the infamous murderer who was holding a lady captive was.

Some of you might of known of this, but I play Pathfinder (basically Dungeons and Dragons for those who don't know) twice a week.
Today, my character basically became a god...

The short story is that my character had so much luck in place, one of these being a D100 role that ended up switching souls with the nearest creature, which ended up being a dragon that was trying to kill me. The long story is incredibly complex, given the fact that my character is already incredibly complex

I hope my character in the 5e game I'm in can achieve similar levels of power - as a paranoid Lawful Evil megalomaniac that's something she'd be very happy with.

Have a bad day everyone!
(Interesting fact, today is "Have a bad day!" day, at least here in America. It's also my Dad's birthday. That's fun)

So I learned two things today
1: If you're going to make a clock featuring a silhouette of a human, don't make the hands of the clock be coming from the crotch.
2: There's a book called "How to Talk Minnesotan" (not really surprised, but I only saw it today). About like 3/4s of the book talks about stuff I have never heard before. Really shows the striking difference between City Minnesotan and Rural Minnesotan
In completely unrelated news, I think I figured out what I'm getting a good amount of friends and family for Christmas this year (assuming I have money for that).

Any recommendations on books regarding East Africa. Mainly thinking Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, etc following independence although also maybe things for context on culture and/or various tribal differences.
