Apparently, Assange's internet got cut off allegedly, because he was child grooming in the Bahamas.

Looks like I'm actually going to be watching this one. I think I'm going to laugh and laugh and laugh and cry because I realize that one of these two is likely going to be president and then laugh some more.

Well, this was unexpected. The FBI has just reopened their investigation of Clinton- thanks to their investigation of Anthony Weiner's emails! www.washingtonpost.com/politics/fbi-to-conduct-new-investigation-of-emails-from-clintons-private-server/2016/10/28/0b1e9468-9d31-11e6-9980-50913d68eacb_story.htmlA source says the FBI found "numerous" emails. Clinton, of course, said nothing. Want a crazy conspiracy theory? This is from Rush Limbaugh. He thinks the FBI opened the investigation to...wait for it...get the focus off Wikileaks! Seriously. The mainstream media certainly considers the FBI as more credible than Wikileaks. thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/303347-limbaugh-fbi-wants-focus-off-wikileaksSpeaking of Wikileaks, they may have released an email that reveals some about the hacker. It's an email from earlier this year, in which people are trying to get John Podesta to change his password, after someone tried to get in. The IP was in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, which is not known for being supportive of Russia, to say the least. One of its more prominent residents is State Department-designated political prisoner (and Department of Justice-designated unindicted co-conspirator in a massive fraud case), Yulia Tymoschenko. wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/34899en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DnipropetrovskThe DNC are doing one thing right- they are suing the RNC for violating a consent decree regarding vote suppression. theintercept.com/2016/10/27/voter-suppression-is-the-real-election-scandal/?comments=1#commentswww.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/10/26/dnc_sues_rnc_claiming_trump_s_ballot_security_is_voter_intimidation.htmlThere is a Trump scandal that just came out, but only the Telegraph (or, as UK folks call it, the Torygraph), and the Intercept are reporting it. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/24/exclusive-investigation-donald-trump-faces-foreign-donor-fundrai/theintercept.com/2016/10/28/trump-super-pac-sting-shows-how-citizens-united-opened-door-to-foreign-money/Republicans are suing TV stations for ads linking them with Trump talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/gopers-are-now-threatening-lawsuits-against-tv-channels-for-ads-tying-them-to-trumpEvangelicals' views on political morality have changed. www.newsweek.com/have-evangelicals-discovered-how-embrace-sin-513847An African-American Trump supporter has his own skeletons in the closet. fusion.net/story/362459/blacks-for-trump-michael-the-black-man-yahweh-cult/A nice article on how the Trump family fortune came to be. www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-trump-family-fortune/Mike Pence's plane ran off the runway at LaGuardia. www.cnn.com/2016/10/27/politics/plane-carrying-pence-skids-off-runway/In my neck of the woods, election officials are concerned about voter intimidation. www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/10/27/voter-intimidation-concerns-greenville-party-officials/92842454/Some students from a local university sued to be able to register to vote at their school address. Well, as is not surprising, people are going after FBI director Comey. I can't believe I'm the only one posting here... Well, the Podesta emails have lots of interesting things. Some are bringing Podesta in for criticism, undeservedly so, IMHO. (Hey, it's one thing when religious views can be used to harm people, it's another when they don't.) This includes Podesta's interest in UFO's and his wanting to see someone's "spirit cooking" (Which contains consumption of bodily fluids and a magic ritual). A majority of people think Clinton did something illegal- including many of her supporters. www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/election/article112635048.htmlClinton staff members were looking forward to prosecuting Julian Assange long ago. news.vice.com/story/hillary-clinton-shows-some-candor-in-newly-released-emailsHere's a nice article from a professor at the MIT Media Lab on how and why he put together a visualization of Clinton's emails. It's also interesting to see what's been said about him as a result. medium.com/@cesifoti/what-i-learned-from-visualizing-hillary-clintons-leaked-emails-d13a0908e05e#.qd07er8v6Could Trump make some sort of deal with the Left? (Of course, with the DSCC, DCCC and DNC going after at least one prominent Leftist (Alan Grayson), they may try and purge them out beforehand.) medium.com/@mtracey/would-trump-make-a-deal-with-the-left-42057577cead#.7zl02u8x2Yesterday, at the site of absentee voting, the line was FAR longer than Wednesday. Lastly, what I thought would happen did. Someone launched a write-in campaign against the candidate who won the State House nomination in my district based solely on his sexuality. (The guy in question appears to be one of those who wants more religion in politics, and is one of those Baptists who have forgotten what religious liberty means.) www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/2016/10/29/district-22-write--campaign-against-jason-elliott-full-swing/92958262/And just when I thought I had heard the craziest conspiracy theory, I heard a weirder one. Apparently, we borrowed money from the Queen of England at our independence, and since we didn't pay, Abraham Lincoln turned us over to the Brits in the 1870's. Donald Trump is trying to reverse this, or so I hear. (I know, it's totally crazy and historically wrong on many levels.) I'm working the same polling place as last time- and they asked me to set up at 10 AM Monday, which I certainly can't do. (Parents will be busy, I don't drive, and I will be observing court, most likely.) Update: I forgot some more big news! Two former Chris Christie officials were convicted over Bridgegate. Christie's been pulled off the campaign trail. www.cnn.com/2016/11/04/politics/bridgegate-case-verdict-reached/index.htmlThe DNC claims it found a listening device (or, rather, traces of one) in their HQ. www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/11/dnc-told-fbi-it-may-have-been-buggedThere's evidence the Russians were not the ones who hacked voter databases...though there's also evidence that it may not have been election stuff they were after... (Voter information contains lots of things that can be misused to steal identities.) www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/10/state-election-hacks-undermine-voters-confidenceHere's some information on the guy who helped get over four thousand people off the voting rolls in NC. www.cnn.com/2016/11/05/politics/north-carolina-voter-rolls/(The article quotes one person stating that voter ID is not required in NC. Apparently, CNN did not check NC's regulations. You'll need either a photo ID or current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document to vote.)

I can't believe I'm the only one posting here... Yeah, this forum's unfortunately not active enough for there to be much political discussion. At least there are no horrendous flame wars, though. I found this article very interesting, and its point poignant: transparency in politics in important, and presenting and helping people to examine data is not in itself a political endorsement of one candidate or another. It's important to avoid politics so thoroughly polarised that we discount information instead of examining it without prejudice. I feel like that philosophy would help a lot with the issues that have plagued this election - and countless others in other countries, too!

And when one person or two gets ganged up on, as has happened in various places (including AH.com), it's bad too. The second point is good- though, alas, there are lots of people who fear transparency as it might expose what they do and who they are. (Sometime, I need to work in a quote from a different Clinton (George- and not the VP).)

Well, from the tracks of the Norfolk Southern Railway to the banks of Brushy Creek, here are Orville's election results! As was the case for the past year, I've been a ways away from my home precinct, over on the outskirts of the city of Greer. It was a long day, and I was so busy, I was unable to keep a lot of notes. We had 1100 votes recorded on the election machines. (More than those who signed in.) We also had quite a few provisional and failsafe ballots. We had nineteen people vote curbside! (It did get a bit tired lugging the machines out.) The precinct's presidential vote was interesting. Trump won, as expected. What was not expected was the margin. He got 733 votes- 155 more than Romney. By contrast, Clinton got 307 votes- three LESS than Obama 2012. Johnson got 20 (8 more than 2012), Stein got 9 (9 more than 2012!), and McMullin got 17. (The Constitution candidate got the same amount of votes as Virgil Goode. Scott got 720 votes- expected, but fewer than Trump. (His Democratic/Green/Working Families opponent, combined got 304) Gowdy got 732 votes- only one less than Trump! The referendum for expanding alcohol sales got quite a few votes- a bit under twice as much! On the write in front, Santa and Satan got a vote each for State Senate. Gary Busey got a vote for Coroner. A former Republican president got a write-in vote for sheriff- Lincoln. "Clinton" got a vote for soil & water commission, as did JLo, Tom Brady, "Me", and "OK" (No word if it was Martin Van Buren). And, for those who did not want to vote for the lesser evil, Cthulhu got one vote.
Now, who did I vote for? Start at the bottom and work up. Soil & Water Commission- Write-in: Anatomy teacher (?) Since she passed me and nobody else was running, I voted her. County Council- Write-in: Gloria Haskins (R) She was a neighbor, and was driven out of office by the daughter of the County Councilman (and ex-BJU dean) in question. Register of Deeds- Write-in: Paralegal teacher (?) She's giving me extra credit for class for voting and pollwork. I couldn't vote for the candidate since he's the son-in-law of the county councilman above. Sheriff- Sole Nominee (R) I voted for him since he defeated the current occupant of the office and nobody else was on the ballot. (I was unaware that an activist was running against him on a write-in ticket.) Coroner- Incumbent (R) Yes, we vote for coroner. Our coroner does an okay job on his work (though he does need to update his website with statistics). Sadly, he wound up handling two people I know this year, both of whom died of presumed drug overdoses. State House- Jason Elliott (R) I voted for him for two reasons. One is that he beat the lady who won thanks to ethnicity baiting. Second, he'll be the first out gay man in SC's legislature- which caused a guy to run against him. (My mom was very much rooting for the other guy.) State Senate- Republican nominee. He beat the guy who ran against Jim DeMint from the right and said Bush was not going after John McCain enough. US House- Chris Fedalei (D) I did not vote for Gowdy, not for him being hard on Clinton, but for him going easy on Clinton. After all, he did notbring up Odyssey Dawn, and did not force Clinton to testify under oath- or going after her for lying to Congress. US Senate- Thomas Dixon (WF) Due to ideological disagreements, I did not vote for Scott, despite him being better than Graham- and risking his own reputation among Republicans for pointing out that police can act in racist ways. (I do wish his testimony about Capitol police leads to SOMEONE apologizing to Cynthia McKinney.) SC has ballot fusion, and I chose to vote Working Families to give them my support as opposed to a Democrat. And, drum roll please... For President, I decided to vote for the candidate that closely matched my votes. I could not vote for a candidate tied to fraud. I could not vote for a candidate known for making racist remarks. I could not vote for a candidate whose actions would put US troops at risk for no reason other than satisfying ego and profit. I could not vote for a candidate whose actions show a lack of respect for the right to vote. I could not vote for a candidate who joked about a rape victim. I could not vote for a candidate whose record only spells disaster. Sometimes, the best man for a job is a woman, so I have to say that I'm with her... Jill, not Hill.

Looks like Trump is currently winning important battle ground states, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio most likely going to Trump, and Virginia being on the line.
Minnesota is going Democrat, to be expected.
The third parties aren't doing well, which again, isn't really that surprising

Wisconsin going Republican, that's the true shock to me tonight. Wisconsin has been solidly Democrat since Reagan. I would say it's a shock to see them head Republican, if it weren't for that Trump is running basically the same way Reagan is, so it's expected for him to pick up similar states.

Honestly, it might be a bit early, but I think it's safe to say Trump has won although... edit: in congressional news, Republicans are likely winning the house, senate is going to be a tie or a near-tie. One thing that I can't help but point out, that with Republicans winning the house, no matter which president gets in, they're going to have a tough time with the house

Well, the Chicago Tribune backed Dewey, like much of the media and Clinton. Truman also had a rather conniving DNC chairman backing him.
And people are blaming the honest ones, like Wikileaks, Johnson and Stein (Though not McMullin).
Trump will be a disaster in many ways. OTOH, with Clinton out, perhaps the Democrats will remember 2006 and pick someone who will fight everywhere.
I'm more disappointed in the loss of Feingold and Cooper and Ross in NC.
