"So, are we talking about a black gem that could either possibly drive us insane or another theory is it's possessed by some other astral being and will control us?" Laurence asked the agent whilst looking at the black box.

"We're unsure of its exact use and capabilities, but at the moment all we know is that it has an astral aura similar to that of a human and that it's capable of perceiving its environment. My theory is it's some sort of astral communication or espionage device - nothing immediately dangerous, but a serious information security concern."

He absent mindedly raised his hand as if to place it on something shorter than himself, but his hand ended up slapping against his side. 'That's right, forgot. She's in Virginia...'
"Mr. Agent," Laurence said aloud, "could you be honest with me? Why did you take Kasi to Virginia?" Laurence asked looking at the agent.

"I didn't, Mister Fowler," said the agent after a short, confused pause, "The CIA did. You're the one registered on their list of operatives, not her, so when we put the request in for your transfer I'm guessing they decided it didn't cover her, and thus saw the opportunity to... I don't know what they're doing, Mister Fowler, but you have my promise that I'll do what I can to correct their mistake."

The lift shuddered to a halt after its long descent, and the mesh doors pulled back to reveal another of the facility's expansive grey corridors. The agent's footsteps echoed as he walked forward, past esoteric symbols painted in white and green on the walls, and into the darkness beyond. After some time the group could see light in the tunnel before them - a checkpoint, with security booth built into the wall and a heavy metal barrier blocking their path. A soldier in the now familiar uniform of hazmat suit and gas mask exited the booth and approached Agent Frakes, raising his hand in front of him. The agent placed his own hand palm to palm with the soldier's, and after a silent second the soldier snapped a salute and the metal barrier receded noisily into the floor, pulled down by unseen machinery. Beyond that, it was only a short walk to the circular room lined with huge, red metal doors. "Technically it's illegal for me to tell you what this place is usually used for," said the agent as he lead the way towards one of the doors, "But suffice it to say that nothing - no radio transmitter, no astral projection, no conventional or nuclear weapon, no known spirit or magic can penetrate these walls." Two soldiers stood either side of a small, man-sized door near the base of the main door. One snapped a sharp salute and opened the door, grunting as they pulled, revealing it to be a metre-thick slab of painted metal. "We've repurposed this part of the facility to hold everything relevant to the Navarro incident." The agent had to bow low to get through. On the other side was a long hangar with a curved ceiling, a series of heavy metal shelves and cabinets occupied the centre of the room, barely taking up a quarter of the available space. As the group approached they could see a handful of guards in white uniforms standing guard around the shelves. One wearing an armband striped pitch black and blood red stepped forwards and pulled down his gas mask to speak. "Sir," he said, giving a casual salute to the agent. "Chief," said the agent, nodding in acknowledgement. He jerked his head to the side, gesturing towards the group behind him, "This is the AIU team - we need access to the incident materials." "Of course, sir. They're all yours." The soldier stepped aside, letting the assembled team approach the collection of shelves, cabinets, drawers, and boxes that contained everything they had on Navarro's mysterious death. The agent marched forwards and pulled a heavy black box off on of the low shelves and slid it into the middle of the aisle. It was a metre high and wide with silver padlocks dangling off the sides, and complex diagrams of overlapping shapes and runes scrawled on each face. "This is where we're keeping the black gem," he explained, "This box has numerous layers of warding to prevent it perceiving anything whilst in there. We need to make sure we take it out for a short a time as possible - we don't want whatever may be looking through it knowing too much - so I need to know you're all ready before I unlock this thing. Are you?" ((Sorry for taking a while with this update - it needed to be a bit longer and more detailed, but I've been kinda busy and haven't been feeling up to writing it over the past few days.)) "Well, I'm ready." Mortz said, getting rid of his cigarette.

The agent nodded and turned his attention to the box. The silver padlocks on each side had no keyholes, so he took a thin black marker from his pocket and drew a small, complex sigil on each one. They popped open the moment he drew the last stroke, and with them gone the agent was free to slide the heavy top off the box. Inside was a small chamber, shielded by layers of inch-thick metal, with the pitch black gem lying just off centre inside.
The agent sat down on the floor, pulling his feet up to rest on his thighs, "I'll monitor the gem's astral presence. Work fast."

"Well...this is interesting. The earliest I can see is that the gem is in in a room that is made up of and contains curved, shapes, they had a silvery surface with a rainbow sheen. Next it's on some sort of alien planet, with black figures and white humanoid-like creatures in the vicinity. Next, it's in some sort of white cone flying through space, and entering the Earth's atmosphere. There's also radio static, but I can't make out what they are saying. It's in a laboratory next, various tests taken on it. Eventually it's taken by someone...most likely Navarro. Then, a black, humanoid creature, similar to those on the alien planet, but with a wide, flat head, with Navarro offering the gem to the creature. I can't make out the words, but I can tell he's offering it in a fearful tone. The creature paralyzes Navarro and...and...cut him open and remove his organs. It was using gleaming metal tools, if it matters. Mortz got up and stepped away, his face was pale, and lit a cigarette. "Indeed, it was interesting"

Laurence said scratching his face for a bit. That was something entirely different, he had dealt with the supernatural and mythological before, but nothing based in the realms of science. Or space for that matter. "This should be interesting to say the least." Laurence said with a small chuckle and smile.

But there is a reason why they chose us, instead of any scientists, of course. With our powers and all. And why they chose this group, specifically. I never confirmed it, but I've heard many a rumor and overheard many a conversation that say that there are many more of, us." Mortz said looking at the group. "But God knows with these things"

"But God knows with these things" "Well if the aliens ever wanted a barbeque I could easily help them enjoy the food." Laurence said jokingly, though his laughing subsided quickly. "I guess I'm the muscle for this then, I don't want to go cutting into our alien visitors if at all possible."

Agent Frakes began to unfold from his position on the floor, dusting himself off as he pulled himself up to his full height. Quickly he slammed the box shut and closed the padlocks around its edge. Producing a notepad and pen from somewhere within his jacket, he began to write. "The events and beings you described don't match any paranormal encounter I'm aware of. I'd guess this is tied to Navarro's time at NASA, but if they'd brought anything like this back," he said gesturing to the box at his feet, "Then we should've known. Black and white humanoid figures, you said? Were they similar in shape and size?" ((Sorry for the wait, let's see if we can get the ball rolling again. ))

Expect with the heads of the black creature that killed Navarro and the aliens. As I said, the black figure's head was flat. I can't seem to remember the alien's heads all too well"

The Agent hummed in acknowledgement. "And a white cone falling to Earth? I have an idea about that, but for the moment I think it's time we moved on." The pen and pad disappeared back into his jacket, and he shoved the heavy box back into place with a grunt. "So," he said as he walked to the side of the room, stopping in front of a huge piece of metal furniture sporting a row of chrome drawers each one two feet high and more than a yard wide, "You guys want to see a dead body?"
